2008 dates

May 2008 5/9 - 5/11      San Lorenzo Park Camp                                                          Troop 90 will take a step back into the turn-of-the-century while visiting San Lorenzo County Park. This is a Patrol Cooking Camp in which we will visit the Rural Life Museum, La Gloria one-room School (1887) and the restored King City Southern Pacific Rail Depot. The park offers ideal conditions for Capture the Flag and water balloons.

May 2008 5/18               Eagle Service Project at Pont Lobos.                                             Lend a hand from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. installing trail signs at Point Lobos State Park.

May 2008 5/24 - 5/26       China Camp to Big Sur Backpack Trek                                         WOW! The absolute most beautiful stretch of 24 miles on the planet awaits. This annual backpacking trek will consist of three 8-mile backpacking days. Enjoy the sunset from Pine Ridge the first night and enjoy a swim at Barlow Flats the second night. This is one of our most popular trips, back by popular demand.

May 2008 5/31         Oceanography Merit Badge                                                                 Troop 90 will charter an Ocean Research Vessel from the MBA, go out into the bay, perform oceanography and complete Oceanography MB.

Jun 2008 6/2        Pre Summer Camp COH                                                                         CLASS "A" Uniform Event. Troop 90 will conduct a COH in Chautauqua Hall to recognize scout rank advancements of all scouts. This COH has a special emphasis on first-year scouts who CAN advance to Tenderfoot prior toSummer Camp.

Jun 2008 6/21 6/28 Camp Chawanakee  Summer Camp                                                     An absolutely incredible summer camp opportunity awaits about an hour east of Fresno in the foothills at about 1 mile elevation on the shore of Shaver Lake. GREAT PROGRAM. GREAT FOOD. GREAT FUN. Just ask any scout who went last year. Most are already on the roster to return. This is a magical place.

All participants in summer camp, including adults, must have a current physical.  Adults need a Class III physical.  These are good for one year.  Scouts need a Class I and II physical; The Class II is good for three years.  The Class I is an annual update by parents.  These are simple physicals, of the variety that can be done by your physician or by DOCTORS ON DUTY.  If your scout has recently had a physical for school or sports, there is a good chance you can drop the forms off where he had the physical, and the doc will sign these papers without needing to see their patient again.

If you are an adult just visiting summer camp and maybe staying one night for the drop off or pick up, we have in the past not been required to have a physical on you, since you are not participating in camp activities.

Jun 2008 6/30 Mid Term PL Elections and 5th Monday Uniform Inspection

Jul 2008 7/26 - 7/27 Backpack from Old Coast Hwy to Pico Blanco Scout Camp (12 mi)     Very few have been dropped off at the old Coast Hwy the day before camp begins. Your journey will take you to Pico Public Camp where you will enjoy luxury accomodations (the picnic tables Troop 90 hiked in in 2004) and a magical waterfall. After a gourmet dinner, we will sleep beneath the stars and awake early to hike into Pico Blanco Boy Scout Camp, where you will shed your backpacking gear for car camping gear for your first day of summer camp.

Jul 2008 7/27 - 8/2 Pico Resident Camp                                                                          Troop 90 always participates in our local council camp. Once again this year, we anticipate to take over 20 youth and stay in our traditional campsite 3 on the River with our own swimming hole. A favorite every year for scouts who Love Camp Pico Blanco.

Aug 2008 8/24  Aug Court of Honor                                                                               After 2 Summer Camps, there will be over 200 Merit Badges to award, and we deserve a picnic!!!
