Yes!!! Venture Crew 90 has secured reservations to return to Philmont in 2009!!
2009 trek dates: July 4 - July 19, 2009 (travel on Amtrak begins July 1 or 2 or 3, 2009 (departing from Los Angeles who attend Catalina, and from Salinas for those who do not attend Catalina).

Criteria:
Scouts: Every Philmont 2009 Scout must meet each of the following criteria to be a member of one of the Philmont-bound crews.
Be a member, in good standing, of Troop 90 or co-registered with Venture Crew 90. Both boys & girls are eligible for this event!!!
Meet the minimum age. (You must be 14 by January 1, 2008, or be 13 and have completed 8th grade by June, 2009)
Meet the maximum age. You must be under 21 on January 1, 2009.
Meet all Philmont health criteria; and complete all required forms.
Meet the height/weight limit set by Philmont.
Pay all required Philmont fees. (Total Philmont Fee are not yet set, but will approximate $1,100/scout.)
Pay all required Crew 90 fees. (To be determined, based on travel & equipment expense.)
Participate in all mandatory Philmont training activities.
Note: More Scouts may apply to attend Philmont 2009 than the space available. Applications will receive consideration on a variety of factors, to include date of application, extent of prior troop participation, and crew compatibility.
Adults: Every Philmont 2009 Adult Advisor must meet each of the following criteria to be a member of one of the Philmont-bound crews.
Be a registered adult leader, in good standing, of Troop 90 or Crew 90.
Be approved by the Troop 90 Committee.
Meet all Philmont health criteria; and complete all required forms.
Meet the height/weight limit set by Philmont.
Pay all required Philmont fees. (Total Philmont Fee are not yet set, but will approximate $1,100/leader.)
Pay all required Troop 90 fees. (To be determined, based on travel & equipment expense.)
Participate in all mandatory Philmont training activities.
Note: More Leaders may apply to attend Philmont 2009 than the space available. Leader applications will receive consideration on a variety of factors, to include date of application, extent of prior troop/crew participation, crew compatibility, and whether the leader is parent or guardian of a youth planning to Philmont-2007.
Fees: A fee schedule will be set for Philmont-2009 participants. With the exception of the initial application fee, all fees shall be refundable for non-attendance only if the space is later filled. Fees will include payments as follows:
1/3 on January 15, 2009.
1/3 on March 15, 2009.
1/3 on May 15, 2009.
Backpacking: Each Philmont trek will involve hiking with a 35-55 pound backpack, between 6,500 and 12,500 ft. elevations. The specific treks for each crew will not be selected until 2007, but each participant will hike a minimum of 50 miles to a maximum of 90 miles over a span of two-weeks.
