Troop 90 attends Summer Resident Camp at Pico Blanco Scout Reservation during the first week in August.  For the year 2008, camp week will begin Sunday, July 27, 2008 and ends on Saturday, August 2, 2008.  As in past years, Troop 90 has again reserved Campsite #3 (named "Cayuse").

Be sure to make your reservation no later than Memorial Day to take advantage of the early-pay discount!!!  This fact sheet provides general data relating camp, and provides a guide for the gear each Scout needs pack for that week.  Read this carefully.  Be sure to bring all the equipment you need, and leave at home all the "stuff" that should not come to camp.

Parents must complete and submit a full health history and physical exam (Form #4414).  This form must be signed by a licensed physician.  Each Scout must also have a Parental Consent form signed by his parents or legal guardian.  No Scout is allowed to stay in camp without these forms.

Option:  Hike in One Day Early!!!

Scouts wanting more of a challenge have the option to hike into Camp Pico Blanco a day early... be warned, however, that this path includes hiking on two days (Saturday & Sunday) but the journey is planned so that Scouts will arrive on time in Pico Blanco, before noon on Day One.

Arrive at Camp - Day One

Scouts arrive at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.  Plan to car pool with your tent-mate.  Troop 90 will camp at Camp Site #3, "Cayuse".   Scouts will set up camp as soon as they arrive.  Scouts will arrange tents by Patrol.  When the last tent is set, the Troop takes a guided group tour of camp, including a medical exam and swim test.  Do NOT plan to arrive later than 12 noon as late arriving Scouts will delay the check-in process.  Be sure to bring a sack lunch to eat at camp.  The first camp meal is dinner!  After dinner we will attend a group campfire program for Scouts and adults.   "Lights Out" is at 10 p.m. every night at camp.

Daily Camp Routine - Monday & Tuesday (...but not Wednesday) and Thursday & Friday

All Scouts are invited to join the optional Polar Bear swim at 6:30 each morning.  Participate in 3 Polar Bear Swims and get a patch... do all 5 and get a special award!  Breakfast is at 7:30 a.m.  Each morning is divided into 3 separate merit badge sessions before lunch.

The 4th merit badge session begins after lunch.  "Open program" time runs from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. during which Scouts can choose free play such as archery, rifle shooting, boating and swimming, or can choose to work on additional merit badges which are offered during this period.

Scouts return to their campsite by 5:00 p.m.   Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. followed by a variety of Troop or camp-wide events depending during the week.

Special Sessions - Wednesday only

At mid-week, for the first time ever, Scouts will be provided an opportunity to participate in out-of-camp activities and merit badge opportunities.  These include kayaking, golf and other single event choices.

Departure - Saturday Morning

Scouts will be ready to be picked up shortly after breakfast on Saturday.  Parents can avoid the one-lane traffic by planning to car pool.  Scouts will be located in Camp Site #3, "Cayuse".  Scouts will not be dismissed until all Troop gear is stowed, and the closing circle is held.  Scouts will likely be ready to leave by 9:30 a.m.  Please plan to arrive at camp for pick-up NO LATER than 10:00 a.m.

Special Events

Scouts have the option to participate in short overnight hikes and to "sleep under the stars" at a remote camp site during the week.  The overnight events are optional, meaning Troop 90 leaders will also stay at camp for those who don't want to sleep "under the stars".  Scouts who choose to participate will need suitable hiking gear, including a warm sleeping bag and sturdy backpack.

Uniforms

The Class A uniform is the standard dress.  It is required at breakfast, at each evening meal, and at each group campfire events.  At their option Scouts may choose to wear Class B or Class C uniforms during the day. Click to view Class A, B and C Uniforms,
